No fewer than 46 students have received certificates, international identity cards and original copies of results as graduates of Occupational Safety and Health.
Director for Interventions and Linkages of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Dr. AC Madu disclosed this to newsmen during a graduation ceremony of the first, second and third batches of graduates in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), held at the Polytechnic.
Dr. Madu reminded the graduands that the process of training continues even after graduation.
He said the training had afforded the trainees the opportunity to learn and grafted on safety preserves within the planned curriculum of OSHA United Kingdom.
Dr. Madu who is also the Safety Desk Officer and Center Coordinator of the programme, stressed that graduands were imbued with the first level skill and knowledge to attend to any safety, health and environmental issues in and around their space and charged them to put their knowledge to work as situations arise.
He emphasized the need for everyone to take safety seriously, while insisting that safety and health were constituents of welfare as health is wealth.
Earlier, the acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Chemist Christopher Onyemenonu, while congratulating the graduands told them not to under estimate the certificate, as he described it as one of inestimable value.
Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, Imo State office, Mr. Kelechi Nwelue said safety was very important in management and workforce.
Nwelue who was the chairman of the occasion encouraged the graduands to put to good use all they learnt during their training.
Some of the graduands expressed gratitude to the Center Coordinator for his unwavering commitment to the program.
HSE is an internationally certification training program of the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment United Kingdom, powered by the Nigerian Region of the Association in collaboration with the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri.
