**Says it is a political gambit

****As Onuoha pays N25 Million to Imo Govt

African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2024 Local Government Area chairmanship candidate in Isiala Mbano LGA of Imo State, High Chief Collins Osuagwu, PhD is set to stop the newly introduced Imo State Health Insurance Scheme, describing it as “a suspicious political gambit tied to the 2027 general elections”

It would be recalled that last week, the philanthropist-turned activist politician in a chat with journalists, said the scheme is suspicious because there are no well-equipped health care centres in the 305 electoral wards in the state to provide the claimed health care for which Imo citizens were requested to pay fifteen thousand naira per annum as health insurance fees.

“The public announcements signed by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy claimed that subscribers will be availed all manner of treatments except for cancer. Even the Federal Medical Centres are nothing to write home about, let alone abandoned dilapidated health centers begging for massive rehabilitation””

“If you doubt me, go to the health centre in Mbano and see for yourself”, he fumed.

Against the background of the reported payment of twenty-five million naira to Imo State Government last week by Hon. Miriam Onuoha, member representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly as the first tranche of a total of seventy-five million naira subscription for five thousand constituents, Osuagwu said the transaction only goes to justify his assertion that “the scheme is a mere political gambit tied to the 2027 general elections indicative of a possible pre-election vote buying for Retainership”

It would be recalled that presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 polls, Omoyele Sowore, last week alleged that the results of the 2027 polls have already been written awaiting the highest bidder.

On the way forward, Osuagwu, Chairman of Zeus Marina Oil and Gas Limited, said he is set to stop the Imo State Health Insurance Scheme via a law suit because it just does not add up,, querying why Governor Hope Uzodimma would offer to pay a cash reward to the community with the highest number of enrolled citizens for a scheme that is meant for their well being.
