In light of the political antagonism resulting from the Delta State Executive Council’s recently approved infrastructure projects spanning multiple sectors, including healthcare, roads, sports, and education, Ambassador Fidelis Onakpoma, a Human Rights Activist and International Relations Specialist has expressed dissatisfaction over the development and appealed to Deltans to prioritize the project’s overall impact in the State over political animosity.
Ambassador Fidelis commended Governor Francis Oborevwori of Delta State for executing life-changing projects aimed at enhancing the living conditions of Deltans.
He stated that while he does not condemn constructive criticism in politics, he was undoubtedly flabbergasted by the uproars of some Deltans, who are dragging the Governor and attempting to mislead the general public for personal gains.
He pointed out that the projects valued at N275 billion were approved for construction across various sectors in the three senatorial districts of the state which eventually covers every nationality of the state.
Consequently, criticisms raised by some individuals alleging that their communities were not included, according to Fidelis, are misinformed and unwarranted, as they disregard the significance of senatorial districts over individual communities.
He stressed that it is disheartening for Deltans to disparage these remarkable projects instead of anticipating the overall impact the execution of these projects would bring to the State.
He said, I am optimistic that the N275bn projects were clearly not the only projects to be executed by Governor Oborevwori’s administration; hence, many other communities would subsequently benefit from upcoming project implementation.
He highlighted that the aspersions from opposition parties in the alleged abandoned communities, insinuating that members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in these respective communities are not being recognized by the Governor, is demotivating, demoralizing, and breeds hatred within such communities. “This action is unpatriotic and condemnable”, he added.
Ambassador Fidelis further observed that the approved projects were awarded impartially, without preference to PDP members, and with 40 percent mobilization without the government having to go and borrow, attributing it to the good governance policy of Governor Oborevwori.
He encouraged Deltans to shun politics of hatred and instead rally behind Governor Oborevwori’s administration in consolidation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the state’s prosperity.
