A frontline governorship hopeful, Chief Success Akagburuonye, has received assurances of support from the Imo State Lawyers Association, Aba Branch, following the death of his mother, Mama Monica Nwafor Akagburuonye.
The lawyers gave the assurance when they paid a condolence visit to Chief Akagburuonye at Ogbor Uvuru in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Chairman of the Imo State Lawyers Association, Aba Branch, Mr. Uchenna Ejiogu, said the visit was necessary in view of the association’s over two-year partnership with Chief Akagburuonye.
Mr. Ejiogu expressed the association’s readiness to play a significant role in the burial arrangements, while appreciating Chief Akagburuonye for his unwavering support to the association.
He also pledged the association’s support for Chief Akagburuonye’s governorship ambition, expressing optimism that he would secure the party’s ticket, win the election and continue his selfless service to the people of Imo State.
The Chairman, on behalf of the association, also invited Chief Akagburuonye to its forthcoming dinner scheduled for December.
Responding, Chief Akagburuonye thanked the lawyers for identifying with him at a difficult moment in his life.
He recalled that his mother remained a committed member of the Assemblies of God Church after giving her life to Christ in 1938, around the period the church established its presence in Nigeria.
Chief Akagburuonye said his mother’s love and prayers for him were particularly evident during his 60th birthday celebration, when she prayed for guests at the event.
He recalled the challenges his mother endured during their early years and expressed gratitude to God for granting her good health, prosperity and longevity.
Speaking on his political ambition, Chief Akagburuonye urged them to ensure that they were duly registered and eligible to vote in the forthcoming election.
He also accepted the association’s invitation to its December dinner.
Mama Monica Nwafor Akagburuonye, mother of Chief Success Akagburuonye, died at the age of 105 and will be buried on November 7, 2026.
