Development Journalist, Policy expert and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE newspaper Sir Chidi Emeagi on Monday presented a set of brand new computer, gigantic white boards and other learning materials worth hundreds of thousands of Naira to the newly established Ikeduru College of Education located in Atta, Imo state.
The College is owned by the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru where Mr Emeagi is a noble Knight of the Order of St Christopher.
In a post on his Facebook wall recently, Sir Chidi Emeagi who is also the Coordinator General of Southeast Development Ambassadors Network (SEDAN) said the gesture was done out of his passion for education, and also to redeem his pledge at the just concluded synod of the Diocese of Ikeduru held in St Simon’s Anglican Church Ugiri-Ike.
In his words;
“Earlier today, I visited the newly established Ikeduru College of Education, Atta, Imo State where I presented brand new gigantic white boards, one unit of brand new computer set among other learning materials. This is as a result of my passion for education, moreso to show my little support to the College at this auspicious take off time which is usually difficult particularly in this part of the world where much values are not placed on building and developing strong institutions of higher learning. The Acting Provost of the Institution Rev Canon Dr Emmanuel Egbule alongside the Acting Registrar Canon Nnaemeka Nwanna were on ground to receive me and the items.
The presentation was in fulfilment of my pledge at the just concluded synod of the Diocese of Ikeduru held in St Simon’s Anglican church Ugiri-Ike.
Ikeduru College of Education Atta which was established last year is the brain child and laudable vision of the Anglican Bishop of Ikeduru His Lordship, Rt Rev’d Dr Emmanuel Maduwike and his wife Mrs Anuli Maduwike, and I salute them for hitting the ground running with this wonderful project in my community.
The institution is recognized by the National Commission for Colleges of Education(NCCE), JAMB and other academic bodies in Nigeria. It is currently admitting students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
I had a forward looking discussion with the Provost Dr Emmanuel Egbule on how best to grow the new institution of higher learning. The Provost who was full of joy and excitement, thanked and appreciated my little support on behalf of the Visitor of the College Rt Rev’d Dr Emmanuel Maduwike, and prayed God to reward my family abundantly”.
