National Coordinator, International Human Rights Commission, IHRC, Special Monitoring Mission in Nigeria, Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu gave the commendation during the International Workers Day Celebration in Owerri, Imo State.

He also lauded the Governor  for ensuring that Imo workers were captured in the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, emphasizing the need for workers to be patient with the state government.

Comrade Echendu who noted that workers contribute immensely to the growth and development of the economy of the world, argued that if workers were treated by the amount of input they make, the society will be a better place for all.

He particularly called on  President Bola Tinubu to look into the welfare of the police and soldiers to encourage them in their work and advised  government at all levels to step up their game and ensure that workers in the country are happy.

Earlier, Head, Media and Strategic Communications, IHRC in Nigeria, Fidelis Onakpoma reminded workers of their immeasurable roles in building a formidable society.

He encouraged Imo people to support the government of the day for more democracy dividends.

Imo State Volunteer Coordinator, IHRC, Comrade Ezeani Chiemezie, some students of Imo State University and Members of United Arewa for Peace Foundation led by Amb. Hassan Adamu were present at the briefing.
