The Sole Administrator made the plea while addressing Ahiazu Women who turned out en masse for the 2023 August Women’s Meeting organized by the Council and held at the Council Headquarters, Afor Oru at the weekend.
Chief Anakani hinged his plea on the facts on ground that no Governor in the history of Imo state has been so compassionate towards women more than Governor Uzodinma.
According to the Sole Administrator, it is on record that the State Governor has empowered many women in the State through appointments into sensitive areas of governance, other Government programmes that have helped to alleviate the plight of rural women and many other critical steps by the Governor specifically targeted at women for their overall well-being.
The SOLAD gave kudos to the Governor for appointing Mrs Irene Chima, an Ahiazu Mbaise woman, as the first ever female Principal Secretary to the Governor, appointment of three Ahiazu Mbaise women as Special Advisers, the facilitation of Dr (Mrs) Doris Uzoka as a Minister of the Federal Republic and the choice of Mrs Chinyere Ekomaru as his running mate for the November Governorship elections.
To Hon Anakani, all these show that His Excellency values the inherent potential of women in state and nation building. The SOLAD reminded Ahiazu women that the reward for good work is more work. According to him, Governor Uzodinma has exhibited high sense of responsibility in the discharge of his duties.
He tasked the women to go home and preach the good deeds of the Governor to their families and Communities.
The SOLAD used the occasion to announce to the women that palliatives attracted by the State Government, which include food items and fertilizers will start rolling in from next week and assured them that no Ahiazu woman will be left out during distribution.
Also, speaking at the event, Chairperson of the LGA, Dr Mrs Ngozi Aririguzo informed Ahiazu Mbaise women that the State Government has embarked on the process of massive employment of teachers and civil servants and that women have been earmarked to take the lion share.
According to her, rural women will soon smile due to Government plans to assist market women and traders in their Small and Medium lines of business. She, therefore, urged them to be steadfast and resilient in supporting Governor Uzodinma.
Those who graced the occasion included, Traditional Rulers led by the Chairman, HRH Eze Sabinus Nwaneche, Ugoezes, Community women groups from all the autonomous communities, political women groups, such as Niger Delta Women Organization, Imo Hope for Good Governance, Ahiazu APC Women Leaders led by Mrs Ngozi Onuoha and the National Council of Women Society (NCWS).
