A budding author and scion of Akpelu Dynasty in Ogbaku Autonomous Community, Mbaitoli Local Government Council, Imo State, Mr. Joseph Akpelu has advised nowadays youths to shun social vices and become responsible citizens of the society.
Akpelu gave the advice during the launching of his book entitled, “The Young Adult”, held in Owerri, weekend.
The author expressed satisfaction that those who graced the occasion agreed with him that the book will be the most sought-after in Imo State and beyond, especially now, in other to correct the mindset of nowadays youths and shift their attention away from vices that are inimical to them and the society.
He said the book contains what the adolescent needs to grow and become a responsible adult.
“It has topics like juvenile delinquency, self-esteem, peer group, sex education, parenting among others”, he added.
Akpelu said the book is a self-inspirational book for every young person particularly, students in secondary schools and universities, adding that it will also serve as a guide for parents to train their child.
He revealed that the occasion was used to honour people of the area who have been of immense support to Ogbaku natives and residents.
He singled out the APGA candidate for MBAIKE Federal Constituency, Hon. Henry Nwawuba, as such a person whose benevolence has touched many lives in Ogbaku community.
Lending his voice, a leader from Ogbaku, Mr. Casmir Dikeocha, who couldn’t hide his joy over the success of the programme, applauded the author, noting that a lot has gone wrong in the society and however, recommended the book to every young adult.
Hon. Henry Nwawuba who was represented at the occasion by his Legislative Assistant, Isdore Chukwuemeka encouraged youths to look inwards and explore those hidden potentials in them so as to be useful to themselves than engaging in vices that are capable of ruining their future.
Youth President of Ogbaku Autonomous Community, Comrade Chima Umejuru popularly known as Panadol advised youths to shun cultism, smoking of Indian hemp and other vices that aim to frustrate the noble efforts of the government towards ensuring a better and safer society.
He also advised them to vote for the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the coming election, noting that Obi is the only man that will salvage the nation.
The occasion which had dignitaries from Mbaitoli LGA and beyond, featured dance and award presentations.
