Hon. Sir Ikechukwu Sunday Umeh has successfully earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Measurement and Evaluation from Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, marking another significant milestone in his distinguished academic and professional journey.
Dr. Umeh holds a Master’s degree in Education Sciences, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics from the prestigious University of Calabar.
He was born into the family of the late Chief David Umeh and Nneoma Cordelia Umeh of Amachara, Owerri Akokwa, in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.
Over the years, Dr. Iyke Umeh has built an impressive record of public service and political leadership. He served as the State Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, State Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Chairman of the Forum of All APC State Organizing Secretaries in Nigeria.
His contributions to governance include serving as Commissioner for Science and Technology, the pioneer Commissioner for Power, and Commissioner for Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition in Imo State.
In the corporate sector, Dr. Iyke Umeh is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators of Nigeria. He previously served as National Staff Supervisor, National Compliance Manager, and National Maintenance Manager at Orange Drugs Limited, where he distinguished himself through exemplary administrative and managerial competence.
He currently serves as the APC Imo State e-Registration Coordinator, Coordinating Chairman of APC State e-Registration Coordinators, and National Ex-Officio (South-East) of the party.
Beyond politics and administration, Dr. Umeh is a committed Christian and an Evangelist in the Anglican Communion. He is also the Captain of the Boys’ Brigade and a Knight of St. Christopher.
Dr. Umeh is happily married to Lady Ogechukwu Anurika Umeh, Ph.D., and their union is blessed with wonderful children.
With this remarkable academic achievement, Hon. Sir Ikechukwu Sunday Umeh further cements his reputation as an accomplished educationist, evaluator, absolute administrator, and public servant.
