With barely eight months to the Imo state governorship election, the people of Owerri West Council Area have endorsed Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for a second tenure.
Chairman, Fiscal Responsibility Commission and two-time Executive Chairman of Owerri West LGA, High Chief Barr Victor Muruako, popularly known as Ekwueme disclosed this to newsmen at the world press conference he addressed at the NUJ Press Center, New Owerri, Wednesday.
Flanked by other leaders from the Council Area, Barr Muruako spoke highly of the Governor, identifying the improvement in general security, improved sense of responsibility in the management of public resources, massive infrastructural works, improved welfare services and many others as reasons Governor Uzodimma deserves a second tenure.
He commended the governor for providing inclusive, strong, focused and result oriented leadership.
Muruako, former Southeast Chairman of ALGON, noted that the overwhelming support given to the APC at the just concluded State House of Assembly election was a clear testimony that Ndi Imo appreciate highly, the giant strides of the governor.
In Owerri West, Muruako boasted, APC recorded a high number of success in the elections into the State House of Assembly and the party, according to him, holds record of the Majority in the soon-to-be inaugurated House.
“The appointment of Owerri West indigenes into positions in his government and also his efforts to resolve the FUTO Host Community land issues show how inclusive his government is of all people in Imo State.
“In Umuguma, Owerri West, he facilitated a medical mission, in partnership with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in America, at the Imo State Specialist Hospital Owerri. He has provided skill-up programs for our youths at the state level and has helped a lot of state-domesticated businesses grow.
“I highly commend his efforts and ability to work with FG to raise Alvan Ikoku College of Education to a level of University College Education, and his efforts to attract a teaching hospital for our own Federal University of Technology (FUTO) in Owerri West, is a legacy his administration has placed in the sands of time and posterity will remember him kindly.
“His efforts to revitalize the Imo Rubber Estate at Emeabiam and Obitti at Ohaji-Egbema are highly commendable.”
Barr Muruako also listed many road infrastructure of Governor Uzodimma, whilst informing that the Governor has also approved the construction of 135kilometers of rural roads in each of the 27 local government areas, attributing it to a testament of the governor’s willingness and zeal to work for the people and merit their votes at the upcoming election.
“In recognition of the sincerity and great works of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma as Governor of Imo State, I hereby urge Ndi Imo to continue to support His Excellency for a second tenure. I request that he be encouraged to continue the good works”, Muruako appealed.
Other leaders from Owerri West at the Press Conference included; Imo State Commissioner of Petroleum – Prof. Eugene Opara, Special Adviser to the Governor on Orientation – Chief Sir Fidel Onyeneke, SOLAD Owerri West – Hon. Victor Osigwe, APC Chairman, Owerri West – Mr. Humphrey Umunnakwe.
