Musical star-turned Philanthropist, Kez U gonna Opara was born in Zaria, Kaduna State in Nigeria’s North West geopolitical region on March 3rd, 1957, to the family of late Captain Rev. Canon Godson Opara and Mrs Gold Opara.
Her father was a Nigerian Army officer, an instructor at The Nigerian Military School, Zaria, (NMS) who left to become a Rev Canon in the Anglican Church of Nigeria,
She hails from Umuovakali, Umunam Imerienwe, in Ngor Okpala L.G.A of Imo State in Nigeria’s South East region.
She attended her primary education at the St George’s Military School, Zaria and Bukuru in North Nigeria and Oba Girls Secondary School in Anambra State in the South East. She later proceeded to Teachers Training College at Ogbunike in Anambra State.
Her zeal for education and for a better tomorrow took her to foreign countries, like the United States of America and Canada where she met the father of her child, and the Union was blessed with a girl child named (AUN) Khadijat Ada Adisa.
Kez was bestowed with wealth by God at her teenage years, through God’s gift to her as a musician. She started off with God in the early 70s as a Gospel Singer and was among the first Gospel artists in Nigeria. She was the number one in her home state, Imo State.
The musical star was so talented that within a short period she had up to 14 musical albums to her credit.

Her contribution to the world of music led her to work as a staff of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) at Aba, under NTA director, Nda Pal Akalaonu, as she called him.
With her music life, Kez contributed immensely to the church by donating music albums to church ministries, like Gospel Music World,
TRICOMA Bible College Aba, founded by late Rev. Dr Senator Mark Nwulu,TETMI at Owerri founded by late Rev. Dr. Umune.
Kez is one of the Pioneers of Pentecostal Movement in Nigeria, winning souls for Christ and helping Churches and Christian Movements like, “Riches of Christ Ministry, Full Gospel Ministry and Scripture Union, Grace of God Church in Onitsha, Anambra State.
It wasn’t really easy for her then, as she later revealed. But God helped her to overcome. All these were for the propagation of the Gospel of Christ.
Kez’ service to God and Man, led her to have an N.G.O for Orphans and Widows, by name Society for the Caring of Orphans and HIV-Persons (SCOPE), which has helped so many people.
She worked for her fatherland during the regimes of the two former Nigerian military heads of state, General Sani Abacha and General Ibrahim Babangida. That was when she won the MAMSER Award in Music, which earned her the Nigeria Title of M.O.N. and while working with Better Life for Rural Women, of late Mariam Babangida, the wife of former Nigerian Military President Babangida, Kez donated a music album titled, “NIGERIAN WOMEN”.
She will surely be missed by many whose lives she touched positively.
