The last is yet to be heard about the court case filed by African Democratic Congress chairmanship candidate in the 2024 Isiala Mbano Local Government Area polls, High Chief Collins Osuagwu, PhD.
At the resumption of hearing at the High Court in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Wednesday 4th June, 2025, Evangelist Chika Okoroike who was declared winner of the election described by Osuagwu as a sham, and Isiala Mbano LGA were joined as second and third respondents.
The first respondent is the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC which Osuagwu, through his lawyers, reported to President Bola Tinubu for flouting its own electoral guidelines and regulations.
The processes of the respondents were served on Osuagwu and his legal counsels who were given seven days to reply to the processes.
The matter was adjourned to 3rd July, 2025 for final hearing.
Meanwhile, lead counsel to Osuagwu, Barr. Raymond Imhaekhai of R.I. James Associates law Chambers has declared that his team will pursue the matter to a comprehensive conclusion without looking back especially against the background that what led to the voiding of the local government area polls in Rivers State is similar to the Imo State scenario where the electoral umpire flouted its own guidelines.
“It is a case of no retreat, no surrender till we get justice”, said James in a chat with journalists shortly after the adjournment.
