The Vice President, Imo International Film Festival, Emmanuella Ihemeje has commended the Governor of the State, Hope Uzodimma for pledging  support to the second edition of Imo International  Film Festival, scheduled to hold July, next year.

Ihemeje gave the commendation on the sidelines of the just concluded three day film festival held in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

She said the  governor  showed his love for Imo people, during the July 25th – 27th film festival held in the state.

While lavishing encomiums on the governor for prioritizing the security of lives and property, Ihemeje said the Governor’s people-oriented programmes had placed Imo ahead of others in Nigeria.

She also thanked the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Anselm Anyanwu who represented the Governor on the Imo International Film Festival Awards Night  and expressed satisfaction at the large turnout of government officials at the event.

She equally lauded the Commissioner for Tourism, Hospitality and Culture, Chief Jerry Egemba for committing much time and showing moral support throughout the period of the festival.

Noting the essence of films and filmmaking in society, Ihemeje explained that through films, Nigeria had been able to create jobs for the teeming youth population, while also showcasing the identity that make the nation’s cultural heritage unique.

She assured that with the level of interest and commitment by the state government and film enthusiasts during the maiden film festival, the second edition will record a huge success.
