The National President, Imo Elite in Diaspora, Chief Nnamdi Nwaofor has called on Imo citizens to maintain peace and decorum as the November 11 gubernatorial election approaches.

Chief Nwaofor gave the advice at the award ceremony of Imo illustrious sons and daughters in Owerri last Sunday.

He pointed out that the organization is non political with branches all over the world, noting their concern in the security situation in the state.

According to him, “we want peace in Imo state before the election, we have decided to visit local governments in the state to preach the message of peace, we have already visited Orlu, the next is Okporo and ihittenassa.

In our visits we try to engage the people to ascertain their grievance or problem in order to relay same to the government for immediate attention, political office is not given on a platter of gold, it is a survival of the fittest, thereafter everyone comes together and join hands to move the state forward, hence the insinuation from some quarters that Sen. Hope Uzodinma came 4th to become the governor does not count”.

He further revealed that governor Hope Uzodinma had shown capacity in his leadership despite the security challenges while encouraging Imolites to troop out en masse on November 11 to exercise their franchise without fear or favour.
