Candidate for Orlu State Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Comrade Dr. Mrs. Justina Ekene Akwuaka-Akwaja has decried the incessant loss of lives in Okporo Orlu, Imo State in recent times.
Akwaja however, called on the security agencies to ensure that security is beefed up in the area ahead of the yuletide celebrations, to prevent and forestall further attacks on the people of the area.
The House of Assembly hopeful was saddened that innocent and prospective lives are wasted each time, especially the last occurrence at the popular Orie Okporo market, that left many dead and several others injured.
She recalled that similar incident had happened in June this year, when about five persons were shot and killed.
“Our sons are being killed and our people now live in fear. We have to ensure no life is lost anymore in Orlu LGA as together, we will stay alive to develop Orlu Constituency for our generations born and unborn”, she added.
Akwaja insisted that something urgent has to be done to nip in the bud the root cause of the several attacks in Okporo and environs and called on the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma to do all it takes to restore peace, tranquillity and industry to Orlu LGA and Orlu Zone in general, as this will be his greatest feat if achieved within the shortest time possible, so as to return Imo State to her former glory and attract more investment opportunities and development to the state, especially in Orlu LGA.
She called on the security agencies to expedite actions and bring those behind the killings to book, to ensure the people of Orlu can celebrate the Christmas and beyond, in an atmosphere of peace.
