Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is trending again, perhaps for incendiary comments against respectable members of the society.
Chiefly among them is Mr. Peter Obi, who is the presidential standard bearer of Labour Party in the February 25 presidential election.
The diminutive Governor had in his recent interview, tagged Obi a Nollywood actor.
By that utterance, El-Rufai intended to paint a picture of an unserious and pretentious contender of the forthcoming presidential poll, thereby dismissing Peter Obi as unfit for the position.
El-Rufai further claimed that Obi wouldn’t score more than 1% in Sokoto and 2% in Katsina States, respectively.
We, in the Nigerian Newsguide, appeal to members of the public to take El Rufai’s comments with a pinch of salt.
El Rufai has no moral locus to criticize the former Anambra State Governor because under El-Rufai’s leadership and APC which he forcefully sold to Nigerians, the country is hemorrhaging and may even bleed to death if the likes of Peter Obi did not come to the rescue.
El Rufai should know that Nigerians no longer take him serious.
He should be reminded that there is so much anger in the land owing to his party’s inept, clueless and bad leadership.
Till date, bandits are still terrorizing the nation, snuffing lives out of innocent citizens and kidnapping at will, with Kaduna under El-Rufai’s watch top on the chart.
It is most worrisome that El-Rufai is yet to make genuine efforts towards curtailing the activities of bandits and kidnappers who have been having a field day in his state since he came on board.
Most worrisome being the rumour that some criminal elements, even as harmful and deadlier they are, still enjoy the support, sponsorship and patronage of characters like El-Rufai. What a shame!
We make bold to say that as far as the 2023 election is concerned, Peter Obi remains the best and most competent candidate among those jostling for the position.
Our only worry is that characters like El-Rufai could go any length to frustrate the ultimate will of Nigerians living in that part of the country where he presides as the Chief Ombudsman but hopes are on the rise that the forthcoming elections will shock him and his co-travelers in this endless and aimless journey.
