A few days after the shooting of a large number of EndSARS Protesters at the Lekki Toll gate in Lagos on Tuesday night that led to the imposition of Curfew in the various states of the Federation, two youths in Imo state whose names were given as Ifeanyi Daberechi Philip, aged 25 and Onyemachi Israel Dike, aged 26 were reported to have escaped by whiskers in the hands of some Military personnel who were said to be on duty post around Polytechnic junction, along Aba- Owerri road after a clash with them.
The incident was reported to take place at about 7 pm on the 21st of October, 2020.
Sources revealed that the Military men had mounted a Road block at the spot to carry out the order on Curfew given by the state government which spans from dusk to dawn (6am to 6pm) and that the two boys were in a bus travelling from Aba to Owerri which was accosted by the men on uniform for violating the Curfew.
It was reported that pandemonium ensued when only the two of them resisted the conditions given by the officers which include that they drop their luggage and lie face down near the Express Way.
While the other passengers and pedestrians who were arrested along side the two youths were spotted complying with the rules, though in difficulties, both Ifeanyi Daberechi, who according to our findings hail from Ihitte Uboma in Imo state and the other, Onyemachi Israel Dike, a native of Ugwueke in Bende Local Government Area in Abia state maintained their hard stance which sparked off brawl.
It was disclosed that on noticing that the Military men had given signals for reinforcements in the glare of attempts to disarm and overpower them, the boys scampered away to the near by bush.
Sources have disclosed that the Military officers with more others that later joined them had swooped on the bush shooting sporadically.
Further investigations had shown that the whereabouts of Onyemachi Israel Dike, one of the suspects was yet to be found after the incident and feared to have been killed by the bullets, while no information had, as at press time been gotten about the other boy, Ifeanyi.
Meanwhile, about thirty members of the National Assembly have asked President Buhari to identify and prosecute all the Soldiers that shot #EndSARS Protestants at Lekki Tollgate.
The law makers said they saw no wrong in young Nigerians nationwide protesting the excesses of the Police formation called Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) since it resulted from their frustration and increasing cases of extra judicial killings of the SARS.
Report has said that the Curfew imposed in the states has suffered setbacks in Abuja, Lagos, Edo and other states given the adverse effects it has on the commercial activities.
