Labour Party candidate for Owerri North State Constituency in the March 18 House of Assembly election, Hon. Udochukwu Ogumba says the height of electoral fraud in the 2023 general election held across the nation, happened in Owerri North Council Area.

Ogumba also berated the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for sabotaging the confidence reposed in them by the electorate to conduct election devoid of manipulations.

INEC had declared Kelechi Ofurum of the All Progressives Congress winner of the State Assembly election held in Owerri North last Saturday.

Ogumba in a press interview, Sunday, described the outcome of the election as a total mess and not a reflection of the collective will of the good people of Owerri North LGA.

He stated that there was massive vote buying, ballot box snatching and switching of result sheets perpetrated by agents working for the APC, with INEC staffers aiding and abetting the fraud.

Ogumba said Labour Party won in almost every polling unit in Owerri North and urged the people of the area to reject the imposition of an unpopular candidate as their representative.

He vowed to challenge the outcome of the poll in court and reclaim the mandate that was freely given to him by the people.

“The results from our polling agents placed me ahead of other contestants. So, I won’t relent until I reclaim my mandate”, Ogumba promised.
