Candidate for Owerri North State Constituency in the March 11 House of Assembly election, Hon. Philip Ejiogu, last week, claimed he brought Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP) to Owerri North Council Area for the purpose of constructing roads and bridges in the area.
RAMP is world bank-assisted, with the aim to build an adequate, low-cost, safe, environmentally responsible and efficient transport system in rural communities.
Ejiogu, who is contesting on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, informed that roads and bridges in Owerri North, particularly Obibiezena and Egbelu Obube communities received adequate attention courtesy of his efforts and the good job done by RAMP.
He therefore solicited for votes in the coming election to enable him consolidate on the good works and attract more democracy dividends to the people of the area.
Ejiogu recalled that in the last election, PDP campaigned across the nooks and crannies of Imo State, genuinely and with the fear of God, which led to his emergence as Member for Owerri North State Constituency and victory for the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Emeka Ihedioha among other successes recorded across the state.
Within the first two months in office, Ejiogu recalled, Ihedioha graciously approved his request as the Committee Chairman on Education, for a waiver of employment of teachers.
He commended the ex-Governor for achieving so much within few months in office, with prompt payment of salaries and pensions top on the list.
Ejiogu lamented PDP’s regretful exit from government, describing it as the death of democracy in the State while insisting that if Ihedioha had remained the governor, the present teething problems confronting the state would have been contained.
The PDP candidate said, even in the face of humiliations, slashed salaries and allowances, he had remained resolute and still with the PDP because, according to him, the party represents good governance and quality representation.
He promised that his emergence alongside that of Engr Ikenna Elezieanya – PDP candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency and Senator Uche Onyagocha vying for Owerri Zone Senate, will bring back the former Governor.
