Women all over the world have been charged to build their weaknesses.
The Executive Director, Communal Care Center, Mrs Colette Bennett gave the charge, Wednesday, during a special occasion to mark the International Women’s Day celebration in Akabor Autonomous Community, Oguta Council Area of Imo State.
Bennett who said the choice of Akabor was because their women are not empowered and as such have no stake in their homes, urged them to embrace technology and get empowered to take back their glory.
“You need to empower yourself with skills and knowledge to be able to take care of your husband, children and the community in general”, Bennett advised.
She informed that the theme of this year’s celebration; “DigitAll: Innovation And Technology For Gender Equality”, came at the right time, especially now the nation has gone cashless, and stressed the need for women to embrace technology in other to move with the trends.
She explained the importance of technology using smartphone and computer as instances.
The ED encouraged the women to apply technology in their day to day activities, detailing how they can transact and promote their businesses with the use of smartphones, even as she regretted that most businesses failed within the period of naira scarcity due to lack of knowledge on the use of technology.
“If we are looking for gender equality and equity, we have to empower ourselves, build our capacity and our strength to be able to compete favourably”, she added.
While also stating that children could be censored if mothers are enlightened on the use of technology, Bennett encouraged women to compete for knowledge and not wealth, support their fellow woman and build each other’s weaknesses because, according to her, there is strength in unity.
Lending her voice, Ugoeze Amarachi Uba, wife of the traditional ruler of Akabor Autonomous Community, HRM Eze Nkemjika Ugochukwu Uba, urged women to celebrate and love themselves, live a virtuous life to help their families and the society at large.
