Rector, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. Michael Arimanwa disclosed this to newsmen on the occasion of the University’s 45th Matriculation ceremony held last Thursday.
According to the Rector, those incharge of various chaplaincies in the campus, submit five names of most indigent ND11 and HND11 students and the school management donates personal funds to pay school fees for them.
“So, on a yearly basis, we have 15 people that members of management pay school fees for and most of these people are people we do not know, we don’t come in contact with them”, Arimanwa revealed.
The Rector also reeled out some of his achievements within four and half years in office.
According to him, the school has set an agenda in terms of research, policy, commitment, hardwork, diligence and many others.
Arimanwa, who is the 8th Substantive Rector of the Polytechnic, boasted that the institution is the most sought-after Polytechnic in Nigeria and West Africa because of its very high standard of excellence in all aspects of academic programmes.
Whilst stating that the Polytechnic has won Best Rector award five times in four years, Arimanwa also announced that there is a book of over 400 pages containing facts and figures of his achievements that will be made public soon.
He equally noted that his administration has ushered in new ideas and innovation-driven methods of approach to ensure peace, development and progress in the institution.
He advised the newly admitted students to shun cultism, exam malpractice, prepare themselves and do nothing that will make it impossible for them to achieve their set goals.
